Hello Talkbass. For sale or trade is my recently acquired Ibanez Premium 1205E. It features a 5 piece wenge/bubinga neck with titanium stiffening rods and a mahogany body with a beautiful ovangkol top.
These are wonderful sounding basses featuring Nordstrand Big Single pickups and an Ibanez 3 band preamp with a 2 position mid frequency selector. The mid switch is great for adding low down growl for fingerstyle or a higher frequency mid cut for slapping. There is also an active/passive switch to enjoy the pure sound of the Nordstrand pickups. Unlike cheaper Ibanez models the treble pot does not just add hiss. The blend pot is the best I have used. Not an abrupt tone and volume change off of the detent, it is very easy to dial in a wide variety of tones.
I purchased the bass new from a local family owned music store. I had my choice of 7 different Ibanez 5's and this one was the cream of the crop. The low B (currently dropped to A) is tight and thunderous. Very playable bass with 16.5mm string spacing and a 1 3/4" nut. It even came with complimentary shop wear. I didn't notice the wear until I had the bass for a few days. Extreme close up pics of the wear can be seen below.
Some small gouges on the lower bout where one's leg would go. They do not appear as deep in person. I really got in there with my camera.
Slight buckle rash.
My wife would like a sale at $750 shipped, but I will consider any trades. Not looking for anything in particular, I just love all basses and talking about basses. Feel free to PM me any offers.
Thanks for your time and have a great day! -Jon
