I thought this bass was a lifer when I picked her up. No matter how I try though, I don't play the same on a 24 fret instrument.
This is a no longer available Ken Smith BSRJ5.
She feels like an old friend.
In really nice condition with a few minor impressions that wouldn't show up on camera. (Keep in mind it's an oil finish)
There is some light patina on the back of neck from normal play. (frets 2-7)
Some minor rubs by the knobs.
The one thing worth mentioning is an impression worn in at the neck pickup. I guess that's where the prior owner rested their thumb. (Please see pics)
I made a bubinga ramp that covers it. The ramp is held in by fit only and is not screwed in to cause any damage. It can be removed if not wanted.
The original pickups were replaced with Delano JC5AL mainly for aesthetics as the shells have a crack in them.
I will include the original Smith pickups. They work fine.
I will also include a bottle of Smith wax to keep her pretty.
