these are put together very nicely. How would describe the SS effect on a traditional P tone? I have a Fender SS Jazz from Japan, and the tone is quite different from a standard jazz, but great....actually a bit deeper in that SS way.

I can't really say. I'm a guitarist who has a couple basses. I mostly play my Lakland 5 when I need to, and I bought this for my wife to play when we do a little family acoustic gig. It plays wonderfully, and sounds great, but this is definitely a question for someone more knowledgeable than myself.
