- Left-Handed?
- Yes
This is something I've dreaded doing- but medical reasons, an impending move, and my involuntary retirement from being a working bassist, makes it necessary.
O.K., I'm in Reno, Nevada, and I need to sell locally- meaning the Reno/ Carson City/ Tahoe/ Northern California areas- or anyone passing through here on their way to somewhere else. I'm close to the airport, as well.
Fly in, hang out, buy a bass or two, and rent a van to drive home! lol!
The reason- Shipping is stupidly expensive now, and the boxing, hassles associated with it all, would make what I am going to try to make a 'good deal' for someone- into a pass.
Some of you know, I'm a long time Luthier and repairman, specializing in string basses. About ten years or so ago, I began assembling 'gigging' basses to use on my numerous casino road gigs- where things sometimes disappear, or get damaged. So- I bought a lot of parts, and used some of my long term acquired inventory to assemble some really good sounding, playing instruments. I'm also going to list others, as time passes.
Here's a partial:
1. Fender Ash body in purple, string through- I think it's American, as no MIM's I've seen were string through. It could be a nicely done conversion, I don't know. It's a bit on the heavy side. Squier neck and tuners. It's a nice playing bass. Has Carvin stacks, passive circuit, mint green guard, tug bar, bridge is Chinesium. $350.
2. Squier Maple Jazz bass body, in excellent shape, with a 43 year old aftermarket neck of unknown origin- I think it could be a Chandler or an early Charvel- it has an ink stamped number on the back of the headstock. it is super thin, like a pre CBS 'A' Fender neck, and is absolutely identical in every way to a Pre-CBS Fender. Refretted with stainless steel frets about 15 years ago. Fender 'Super '55' noiseless pickups, aftermarket ABM copy bridge, tort guard, tug bar, a pre CBS headstock decal, and reverse wind Gotoh Kluson Fender pre-CBS tuners. $600.
5.Danelectro Shorthorn long scale bass from the late 90's Evets Korea era.
Only mod, is the pickguard/ control cover replacement. I used this bass for one session, and two gigs, it went into the gig bag in my closet, and I haven't played it since. Just saw one go for 899 on Reverb, these are going up all the time. If I can find the original guard, I'll include it. $650.
I may be able to provide a gig bag for some of these, depending...
