For sale is this powered MAS 18 cabinet made by Mike Arnopol. This was purchased from Mike in 2019. There is an internal 1200-watt Pascal class D amplifier module. (I previously had the amplifier incorrectly listed in this ad as an ICE amplifier. However the ICE amplifier modules in 2019 were too large to install within the 18, so Mike used a Pascal class D that he was able to get increased wattage from by custom re-designing its power supply).
You can also bypass the internal amp to have a passive MAS 18 cabinet. A preamplifier is required to drive the powered cabinet. The original price paid in 2019 was $1,200.
This is a fabulous powered cabinet that can be paired with another 8 ohm cabinet to have a very stable modular setup. This amplifier can run as low as 2.7 ohms, so it can be paired with a 4 ohm cabinet. (Mike specifically recommends against running the Pascal D amp at 2.0 ohms). I paired this powered MAS 18 cabinet with a MAS Bodai 112, which is a 4-ohm cabinet. The result was an amazing modular combination with the tightest, beefiest low B string I've ever heard (the power of the 1200-watt Pascal class D amp combined with the Bodai 112's capacity for depth and gravitas.) I also paired this cabinet with a Fearless 112 with fabulous results.
This cabinet is ideal for a bassist looking for fantastic sound in a compact size. The cabinet weighs about 32 pounds on its own. Its dimensions are 18" tall x 11.5' wide x 15" deep. There is a built-in speaker mount on the left side so it can be mounted on a speaker stand. The input to the powered amplifier is through a 1/4" line input on the right side. There is also a speakon connector which can be used as the input from an external power amplifier or as the output to an external speaker.
This cabinet is particularly fantastic as a dual purpose speaker for someone playing both acoustic double bass and an electric bass ... it will shine with both.
This powered speaker is in perfect working condition. It is in very good aesthetic condition, though the backside of it has some wear on the finish. I would recommend getting a Studio Slips cover for it. I found myself wishing that I had this whenever I needed to transport it.
