Bass was built in 2014 and could probably pass for new. It was already in excellent condition when I bought it last year. Unfortunately, it must have taken a bump in shipping which resulted in damage to the finish on the upper bout where your right forearm would rest. The bass was basically mint otherwise so I sent it to Mike Lull and had him do a complete refinish. Mike also did a complete setup and the bass came back playing even better than before.
This is probably the best ‘Fender-Jazz-style’, 5 string I’ve owned. It has the Custom Wound Seymour Duncan Basslines Single Coil Pickups and a Bartolini 3-band EQ with push/pull for mid frequency. This pre also has a push/pull on the vol control to bypass the EQ and run passive if you want. You can adjust the preamp gain with the trimpot on the board to set the relative volume between active and passive mode. It is currently set to about even, which I prefer as it does sound slightly different in passive mode and I like to be able to switch between the modes without a noticeable change in volume. The preamp and pickup balance give you a lot of tonal options.
The spacing at the nut and at the bridge are very close to that of a four string Jazz bass which works well if you switch between 4 and 5 strings and want to keep a fairly consistent string spacing. Excellent B string on this bass.
Nice weight at 8.9 pounds. Comes with Mike Lull branded bag made by ProTec. Hate to sell this one, but I need to get something with a 34” scale due to hand issues.
