Details

Virtually unused NOS maxima flats. These will only work a 2x2 headstock (or 3x1 if you have a SS stingray) or a sub-short scale bass as the high G was too short to fit the G on my 4 in line 30" bass. Please note that the E, A and D strings were also cut for that headstock configuration.

From OG Seller:

I was searching for years for "Framus" branded flatwounds from the era since they were the ones Jack Casady used on his Starfire basses in the late 60s (he still has a stash of them that Rick Turner pulled from when his stolen, modified first Starfire bass was returned to him some years ago). Eventually I found a guy selling these NOS flats and noticed the slightly longer-than-usual purple silks at the ball end, just like photos of Casady's old Starfires. So I looked into the Maxima brand more and found they were also favored by Paul McCartney on his Rickenbacker. Also, made in Germany, they were marketed under other German brands such as Hofner, Framus, etc. I was stoked and bought up the stash. Since they're flats though, they obviously last a long time and I doubt I'll need quite as many sets as I have, so I've been letting go of a few sets here and there, as others have expressed interest.

What makes them unique is a thin, bell metal core and flat nickel outer winding. They're relatively light in tension (not quite as much as Thomastiks, but lighter tension than most). They are pretty floppy/supple uninstalled and have a really soft feel to the touch when strung up. The E string is THUMPY, punchy and fat sounding. The A, D, and G also have a really great round bodied tone, but a nice vocal quality to the mids, and nice sustain. Overall, the experience is hard to explain and no other set I've come across really feels or sounds like them. Gauges are 44-58-78-102. No silks at the headstock end, only the purple silk at the ball end. They don't come in packaging since they were bulk
