Without measuring, as I'm at work, would this work in the P-position?
This particular pickup is sized for a Guild Starfire or other bass with similar string spacing. It works in either the bridge or neck position so it really depends on the bass and it’s string spacing. If you’re talking about an actual P bass with typical Fender spacing of 19mm or .75 inches then this won’t work for you. If the string spacing works for you then it could be used in the P position. Hope this answers your question.

Not recommended for a Pbass but it would likely work.

Available in 3 different string spacings:
  • 15.6mm – Vintage Hagstrom Bisonic, Starfire, and Gibson
  • 17.4mm – Fender Pbass, and JazzBass neck
  • 19.0mm – JazzBass bridge

Still for sale? Also Curtis asks for bridge or neck preference when you buy. When I told him my position he recommended the neck version. There is a difference. What was this pickup designed for?

Yes, it’s still for sale. It was purchased for a 1967 Guild Starfire that only had one pickup and that was in the neck position.

Okay, and I hate to sound like a complete snugglemuffin here (I’m sorry), but that doesn’t answer. You purchased it, and you chose the neck option?
