Is the fan loud on these at low volumes? I read it has a variable speed but does the fan turns on right away or after it builds some heat?

The fan comes on right away but at a very low speed. The fan speeds up relative to how hard the amp is working.

To me, the fan noise is fairly low. I have definitely heard louder. Of course everyone's perception of what is loud or noisy is different.

I own a PLX 3002 and the fan is reasonably quiet. You will never hear it in a normal gig situation.

These are great sounding amps for any application but really shine in a bass rig. Using mine tonight on an outside gig.

I'm highly opinionated and extremely self-assured
Yep, I used mine this past weekend for an outdoor gig. They also have a built-in HPF, either 30Hz or 50Hz (or off). I've been using the HPF at 50Hz to keep my tens happy.
