For Sale 1992/3 Yamaha TRB-5P Bass 1st Edition w / Piezo Red Sunburst (Japanese Built)

I am selling my 1992/3 5 string TRB-5P. Every thing is all original and in perfect working condition.

I am the original owner and had the privilege of hand picking this particular bass before sale. I believe this to be the finest example of this model available to purchase today. This S/N has very dramatic 3D effect from the flamed maple body (see the images).

This is easily one of the best recording/Tracking basses made. If you know your bass history, well these particular Yamaha are pretty much legendary and one of the premier 5 string basses ever built. These were hand crafted in the Yamaha Custom Shop (Japan) and are very high end. These first series TRB-5P basses are becoming extremely rare, and even more so in nearly new condition. At the time it was built, Yamaha had created this model to compete with the finest basses in the market. This is Yamaha at its finest. It plays ALL styles of music extremely well.

Use:

This bass has been used in a clean temperature controlled studio environment only. No smoke or road wear. Personally I used this bass to record electronic, metal, progressive rock, and jazz.

Setup:

The bass has been stored for many years in proper fashion. I can arrange to have the neck and string set to your specifications by a professional luthier if requested .The string tension has been slightly reduced for storage purposes and the action is just a bit high. This will be added to the final price if chosen.

Original Case Included:

Yes: Factory Yamaha TRB5P locking case in perfect condition (no key)

Because piezo pickups directly pick up the resonance of the instrument body, the body itself must be made from the finest woods and designed to deliver rich, deep tone. The neck-thru design of these basses affords the best possible foundation for this amazing sound.

Active Electronics: Requires a 9V battery. (Easy battery access compartment)

Blemishes : Four minor dents on the body and a small smooth (no paint chipping) wear mark where the strap meets the body (most likely from a input cable being secured under a strap). The Gold Hardware is flawless and is not pitted or scratched and is in pure mint condition. The pickups show no wear nor does the fretboard. If interested I will send a detailed map any non factory defects.

Why I am selling? TBH Its a crime that this bass has just been sitting in a case for the majority of the last 15 years. This is extremely hard to sell as this was the bass I tracked the demo recordings which landed me my first big label contract. It is time for someone else to have a turn on this piece of history and make their own music.
These basses have been discontinued for some time now. The bass will be sold as in the condition listed. No warranty.

Thanks! This is a tough one to part with. Every-time I look at it I start having second thoughts lol. I just don't play 5 string enough anymore.

nbsipics bought it. Very nice internet person. I'm packing the bass up this weekend. I had to play a few scales on it one last time. What really sets this bass apart is for the pieizos bridge pickups to work, the body has to resonate like crazy. When playing this unplugged it is so loud and pleasing to hear how they picked the perfect tone wood for those body pickups. No other bass does this so well. I seriously wish other players could play one of these at least once.
