For sale is my 2015 commissioned custom Rick Turner Renaissance Semi Hollow RB-5 Fretted Bass. It is in excellent shape. The top and bottom was build from Acacia from a 150 year old tree, that fell in storm in Bonny Doon in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Rick saved the wood ( yep he's that old ;-) ) and I was lucky enough to get a piece of it for this custom bass. The body sides are Walnut. It has a carbon reinforced one piece Maple Neck with a 2 Way Adjustable Truss Rod. The fingerboard is Rosewood with Paua shell inlays on side and on the fretboard. The neck has a glossy finish as well.
It comes with the Timberline Active pre-amp with Piezo pick ups and a stiletto bridge. Tuners are sealed. Currently strung with a set of Thomastik-Infeld Acousticore. All weighing in at less than 6.5 lbs it also has the custom extension to prevent neck dive.
It was recently set up by my buddy Guitar Tech extraordinaire Steve Crisp of Austin fame now here in Santa Cruz, but more important, he used to work in Rick's shop on the Renaissance basses, so he really knows the ins and out’s of this instrument. You can get close to real upright tones with this bass but still rock out as well. I’ve used it in acoustic settings and with a blues band but mostly it was home in the studio. Comes with a case. Also just put in a new set of batteries, so ready to rock or jazz or reagge or funk or ....just groove...
Everyone always asks why one is selling so I'm being pro-active here": I’m letting it go because I need to fund an unexpected tax burden - I already filed an extension but it's coming sooner or later. I really need the funds, so no trades for now. Enough talk.. pics…
