Easily one of my favorite compressors ever. I'm going to stick with my Cali76 because I paid a lot for it and kind of need to justify that purchase to myself. The RT Electronix MBC is the more versatile item though. It's actually a pretty remarkable piece of kit...

With the output dimed, the trim flat and the comp over at 0, the pedal sounds really transparent and clean. No coloration. As you start to dial in compression, it's still the sound of your bass and amp, but, just...smooooooooooth. Like, fresh jar of peanut butter smooth. The result is less harsh sound, more PUNCH. It's like the Diamond or the Photon Death Ray in that sense, combined with the smoothness of the FEA DBCL.

There are 5 bands here, designed to work perfectly well with guitar and bass. I have not tried it with guitar, but I will give my impressions for bass of course...the lowest band is your BASS (subfrequencies, dub). The second to lowest is your low mid (meat). Next is high mid (presence). The fourth band is treble (harmonics, sparkle), the last row is the most subtle, it's the super treble as I call it. I couldn't figure out what it was doing really until I took it away and played with a Stingray...then it came to me. That band is for the CLICKETY CLACK. Basically I ran that with trim down and comp up and there is was, no clickety clack! Then I tried it with the Messdrive and introduced some 'clack' and it added that 'hammer hitting an anvil' quality to the fuzz! So something I thought initially was suboptimal for bass turned out to be ultra useful for controlling unwanted finger noise!

The Comp row controls the amount of compression from none to something like 4:1. The compressor was designed to be smooth, and it achieves that in spades.

The Trim row controls +/- 15 dB cut/boost. It is very interactive with the comp.

The buttons on the third row add extra magic for me. These ISOLATE the bands and mute the rest, so you can HEAR each band on its own and adjust accordingly! Also, you can just leave that band engaged for a shortcut - for example, just engaging the first two bands gives you a low frequency dub sound...the first three gives almost a hollowbody, mudbucker kind of thing...you can mix and match frequencies as you like to get some great sounds. It's really, really cool.

Brand new these are $750. This one is mint. The newest release looks like it has shiny knobs...I like these because they are slender, easy to turn and have a very satisfying "action" to them...you can fine tune the dial nicely if that makes sense.

To tell you the truth, I won't be disappointed if it doesn't sell. I just need to rearrange the board to accommodate it. A bit of a pain as the Cali76 is monstrous in size but well worth it if nobody wants to pick it up.

Not really looking to trade for other pedals but you can still try. I'm willing to package this with a bunch of other things for a 4 string bass.

Willing to ship international for added cost of overseas shipping and the understanding that if it gets 'lost' or 'stuck in customs' I'll help as much as I can but ultimately it may be between you and the customs department in your home country.

I'm gearing up for the Archetype release so I need to raise funds... $600 shipped to get this pedal moving? This is as new, and they go for $750. For many, this will be the ONLY compressor/EQ they will ever need. Again, only reason I'm selling it is because I overpaid for a Cali76 and need to use it so I don't feel bad about how much I paid for it.
