A very cool semi-hollow body bass. I've been using this as a Dark Star host and decided to move on. I have way too many basses around here so ...
The DS is pulled and the original MM Style Duncan 'bucker is reinstalled. The bass is equipped with a 2 band Duncan pre. In stock form there is a blend control - uh, Mr Bennet ? This is a 1 pickup bass ... so the blend was wired to blend the coils - dumb. Really a bad idea for reasons we can go into elsewhere. So I yanked the blend pot out and wired in a HAS Bass Varitone in it's place. The HAS is subtle but definately it works in there.
There are 4 new screw holes that happen to be where a Dark Star pickup's trim ring would mount - imagine that ! I will include a Dark Star trim ring should you wish to continue my experiment. (The trim ring does not confrm to the arch top completely but it does cover the dog ears on the MM rout nicely.
The DS was also deeper than the MM so, I routed for that and copper foil shielded the PU cavity, ran a star ground lead from the shield. I had to add a couple of wood plugs back in to get the MM to the proper height.
A fresh set of GHS Brite Flats. These are a lot like the old D'Addarrio half rounds. IMO - nice string. Good body but strill crisp. I'll definately try a set on something else.
This is a really nice playing bass with a solid, kinda woofy HB sound. Still has plenty of punch behind it. Nice low action! Neck profile is nice. About J width but more C shaped, less tapered.
In Original form fit hard shell case.

or FT for something other than a bass or a fuzz ... guitar ? maybe a cab ? Key's ? Recording / studio widget ? I dunno just not a bass... well maybe a short or medium scale bass would get my attention ...
