Details

A few years ago a bass buddy turned me on to Sandberg's version of the Fender bass. (I figure that's why they refer to these as their California series.) I've been fortunate to have owned a pretty good number of boutique basses (like US MTD, NYC Sadowsky, and Fodera), and these basses really impressed me. Fit and finish are great, the tone is great, and playability is outstanding. I especially like the neck profile and the way it balances on the strap.

GAS being what it is, and me being an old retired guy enjoying his gig money buying gear...well, I wound up with more Sandbergs than I can use. No sense in this one living in my closet.

Here's a well-cared for TM-5 at a good price. No chips, cracks, or dings; a bit of swirling in the slap spot on the pickguard; very light fret wear. Everything works as it should. As you can see, it's ash body with a rosewood board. The pups are J and MM with a coil switch.

$1850 shipped CONUS in the unused factory gig bag.

Ask any questions you might have. I'll be happy to take closeup pix if you want.

Had a request for a sound clip. Here ya go!

This is the bass into a PreSonus Audiobox iTwo interface, recorded in Studio One. No plugins, effects, EQ, or processing--not even compression. The bass's controls are 50/50 pickup blend, and flat EQ. The strings are not-so-new stainless rounds. The bridge pickup has a switch, which I understand to be a coil split. So first I set it to single, then repeated with full. When you hear the long open string notes come around the second time, that's where I changed the switch.

I got one a couple months ago and these sound and play incredible…no fender I ever tried was nearly as good! IMO more of a G&L/ EBMM hybrid but still better
