Looking to sell my Serek Midwestern 2 shortscale 4 string. I received this bass from Jake a few years during covid, and just never really gelled with the 30” scale. It shows some signs of wear on the back and neck, the instrument wasn’t abused at all this is from normal playing and the fragility of nitro lacquer finish.
It has a new pair of strings on it and was recently professionally setup. Action is low and it plays great!
The body was routed for a neck pickup, but before receiving the instrument i asked Jake to remove it. Original controls were volume/tone/rotary switch wired for series/parallel/top/bottom, but eventually when trying to make the instrument work better for me I installed the JC-3B preamp. I can provide a picture of the original wiring setup and the harness, but I don’t have a diagram so you’d have to work off of the picture if you wanted to revert to a passive instrument with that setup.
I was able to use the neck pickup route to hold the battery, and the channel for its wires to run wires for the battery, volume, and active/passive switch on the pickguard. It could easily be reverted to the original configuration, or you could get another pickup and pickguard from Serek and add a neck pickup. There are many cool things that could be done with this instrument, or you can just enjoy it as is!
No modifications were done to the body aside from screwing a battery clip and adding some shielding tape.
