I was the seller of an Epiphone Jack Casady signature bass in ebony. Sorado71 expressed interest in my bass. Part of the attraction for him was the original, larger case that Epiphone offered as an after-market hardshell case.
And truth be told, this is where some of the challenges arose in this particular deal. Because this particular hardshell case is exceedingly large. And finding an appropriate shipping box for the case (and of course the bass) was very difficult.
To his credit, Sorado71 was very understanding about the delays involved in finding a shipping box that would provide sufficient protection for the trip to the bass's new home. Additionally, the buyer was very understanding about some personal delays that I was dealing with since I had a plumbing emergency at my home.
Since the timeframe for our deal was a little challenging I did not want to accept payment until I was able to nail down the shipping. When the cost of shipping turned out to be extremely expensive given the size of the box? Sorado71 was willing to work with me so that we could make a deal that worked well for both of us. And when we were both ready to go? Sorado71 paid in a very timely fashion.
All in all, while this was one of the more challenging sales of a bass that I have conducted on Talkbass, it worked out well because both the buyer and I were able to communicate well with one another. I would gladly do business with Sorado71 again. And if so, I hope that shipping will be a far easier affair!
