The Fender Marine Layer Reverb pedal was shipped promptly, was extremely well packed, and arrived exactly as described, with no functional problems. Thanks very much for making it available.

I received a pedal that did not match the condition that was described by the seller. Specifically, there were rust marks all over the pedal. The ad description specifically mentioned "no rust". I pm'd the seller detailed pictures the same day. The seller got back to me the next day and admitted they did not closely inspect the pedal before shipping and they offered a partial refund of $20 off a $400 pedal. I countered it by $5. I thought it would be reasonable to agree on an amount first. This is when they disappeared.
3 days passed without hearing from the seller, despite their profile showing they were actively browsing TB the entire time. As a seller myself, I would want to clear up any lingering conversations before I clear out so it doesn't, you know, piss people off. To me, this said, the seller does not take this dispute seriously.
After emailing them outside of TB, the seller finally responded that they had been travelling. They within seconds refunded me the original amount of $20. The seller never acknowledged my request to negotiate the partial refund.
At that point, I did feel I deserved a bit more consideration. I replied that I would have preferred an open dialogue about the refund amount before they refunded me anything. The seller responded that they would only honor the original amount.
We briefly debated over the $5. Yeah, I know. But it was a matter of principle at this point. In a strange move, the seller accused me of being petty for wanting $5 more. Strange because by that logic, the seller was also being petty for not being willing to lose $5. The difference being- the situation was entirely created by the seller's failures. Truthfully, I was seeking more due in part to the added inconvenience caused by the seller's disappearance. I believe had they showed some thought + care from the start, there is a good chance I would have accepted the original amount.
In the end, I decided to move on. I got some money back, but the whole experience left a yucko taste in my mouth.
In summary, Seller may not inspect items and descriptions may not be accurate. Seller may up and leave during the middle of a conflict resolution. Don't haggle with Seller over 5 bucks. Take care when purchasing with Paypal F&F, which offers no protections. For my part, yeah, if you ghost in the middle of a refund transaction, I'm gonna think you are avoiding me, and I'm gonna be pissed.
