I have two very rare trace Elliot preamps; they are amazing! Both of them record well and sound great live too !
GP12XV - ultra RARE model made with tubes ; this is from 1990 or 1991 series 6; this was the main part of the amazing Hexavalve amplifiers.
Good Luck finding another one !

GP12SMX- this is from 95 more or less; it has tube and solid state blendable options. This one also has a killer built in compressor and it lights green.
Both of them are equipped with expensive XLR out with transformers for direct recording ; they record amazingly well.

One GP12X - my favorite preamp!

And one GP12 SMX

Both are killer units For recording bass but if you add a powerful power amp you won’t believe how good you will sound in concert !

I'm cranky in my old age.
Lalo you got a GP 12 or a GP11?
I just purchased a QSC PLXII 1804 would be cool to put an old GP11 on it.

I have Gp12x and a gp12smx for sale at this time ;
The extra band makes it more desirable than the gp11 if you play a 5 or 6?string bass with a low B; you actuality have to CUT not boost the first band (30 Hz) for a perfectly defined low B sound !

So I recently purchased a QSC PLX1804 and I'm looking for something to put in front of it. An old Trace preamp would be nice.

When you play a trace Elliot preamp with a loud powerful power amp you realize what you have been missing!
It’s a seriously pleasant experience; my favorite thing about this preamp are the preshape and graphic eq; when you activate the pre shape the sound can go from A perfect fingerstyle tone to a perfect Slap tone ! The best part is that this can be done with a footswitch !!! Therefore this is perfect hands free change of tone and the ONLY solution from switching back and forth between fingerstyle and slap in the middle of the song without commiting a groove violation !! I wonder why more companies don't do it ? Leave it to the guys of trace Elliot , in my opinion the most innovative company in the history of bass amplification ! The slap Sound is SO GOOD that this is what Mark King used during level 42 golden years! The List price of this preamp was $999 back in 1991, not cheap....and with good reason; the components are excellent and it includes a Balanced transfromer which is an expensive addition but very useful when recording direct;this preamp records GREAT also... Either Live on in the Studio this is a great unit designed for Professional Bass players ( I can assure you that you will not regret having bought one of these preamps!)
