Hey TB'ers!

Up for sale or trade is this very high quality MIJ Tune. Not sure what these go for today, so I put what I felt was a reasonable price, open to suggestions. Primary trade interest is really specific and would have to be for a passive 5 string +/- $$$.

Quality and construction are excellent throughout. Plays very well finger style, slap, tap, etc. Neck is super comfy and smooth. Access to upper register is very good. All around great playing and sounding players condition bass.

During my ownership:
When I originally purchased, I took it to Gary Brawer's shop in SF for a setup and installation of the Nordstand dual coil 4's. I checked the pickups for marking but didn't find any, I believe they are Alnico V's wired in parallel.

Currently setup for tenor range (A-D-G-Bb/C) and was used in a jazz fusion band. Controls are VVT + boost (iirc).

$1300 shipped ConUS. Includes generic soft case with back pack straps in good condition.

International shipping available, contact to discuss. Discount for local 93940 pickup; 94010 or 95037 per appointment.

Sweeet. The Japanese Tunes are top notch builds- Alembic quality. Incredible necks and their only shortcoming was the proprietary pickups which here has been nicely upgraded with the Nordy's. Wish I'd never sold my Japanese Tune 518, haven't seen one of those for sale in the seven years since. That bass was so good it played itself. GLWTS.

+1

Japanese boutique quality through and through. Like you said, it practically plays itself and the neck is a work of art imo. My only regret is that I wish it were a 5 string.

Price drop another -$150. Basically selling for less than I paid with the Nordy's becoming 'free' at this price.

Now only $1100 shipped ConUS.

Does this mean you did put thinner strings on it / or are the tonal settings fixed for this range (I read about doing this via the backlit inside the bass with a screwdriver)?
