Another one that I hope I end up keeping...

This was the first production version of this bass by Veiellette.

This started out as a fretted bass but a previous owner pulled them. WARNING...do not attempt to pull frets out of a wenge board!!! It was a splintery mess. Also, the zero nut was pulled so the lines where the frets once were no longer could be used to find your note. However, I thought it could use a salvage.

I had Joe Veillette fix this bass. He put a new, clearly striped wenge board with side dots and installed a new solid nut, set it up with LaBella blacks. This is a fantastic fretless now. I have such a hard time putting it down.

He wrote to me about this bass when I got it back.

The bass was originally completed on June 23, 2006.
Body is Poplar with a Western Red Cedar top.
Neck is Eastern Rock Maple with a Wenge fingerboard.
Bridge/tailpiece is Wenge also.
The piezo is a Japanese-made crystal-type element.
They can’t get them anymore and are now using K&K.
It’s a great piece and one of the best-sounding piezos they've heard.
The preamp is a D-Tar “Eclipse”, a semi-custom blender preamp that is still their standard for piezo/magnetic instruments.

$2500 + shipping from PA

Demo video posted. Excuse my crappity playing.
I just put my iPhone on the Epi 112 speaker and ran my iAmp 800 flat. Lots of finger noise and you can hear my breathing. Maybe I should have backed up.

I'm having a hard time finding a measuring tape or ruler.
Does 1 3/4" and 3" sound right?
Take a look at the videos, you can see the spacing there too.
I think it's whatever standard spacing they use for 5 strings.

That bass is making me squirm in my chair! LOVE hollows/semi-hollows. I have 2012 Fender Am Dlx Jazz V natural with georgeous grain that I'm looking to trade for a fretless. Yours is making my mouth water. My ONLY 4 string is a semi-hollow with an incredible tone. I rarely play it but I can't give it up. Oh well. Wish I had some cash to add. Here's a bump anyway.

I seem to remember a clip of Jonathan Herrera playing a Joe V. fretless on BassPlayer TV a while back. Absolutely wonderful sound he was getting out of it.

The clip may still be up. Haven't visited that site in a while.
