Hi TB'ers
I'm selling my Tribute WAL BASS, (Shipping included)$1600
Die-hard fan of Wal and the amazing Bassists who have used it (Flea, Geddy Lee, Justin Chancellor etc) due its high price, a couple of years ago, I decided to make my own TRIBUTE WAL project, I did an extensive research: electronics, wood, timbers, dimensions, finishes etc.
The hardest part was the electronics
As everyone knows, the most amazing things about these Basses are their pickups and preamps, made only to Wal, and so far no bass has an identical system, their pickups have a coil per string (8 coils per pickup, 16 coils in total), allowing an amazing flexibility in the sound, definition and much punch, the preamp is a filter based system, which gives a wide range of sounds and even allowing to have sounds type "envelope filter".
After I got cheat by SGD luthier David Schwab few years ago, I contacted to Marko Usring, who kindly accepted the challenge, for the preamp I installed an EQ01 preamp from Alan Cringean for ACG.
For the body and neck I took personally the measures and dimensions from a friend's bass and some images from the web, making some minor modifications, the wood selection was important to get the "sound" and for the hardware since it's imposible to get original WAL parts unless the schaller tuners, I decides to use a Highmass bridge for G&L and common stacked knobs from bestbassgear.
Why I'm selling it? I finally ordered my first wal, and a lot of my basses must leave home to pay for it, is going to be a long wait but it worth it.
The "SOUND"
Yes, I copped the sound very close IMO, sounds huge, in the mix it's simple amazing, very hot pickups that allows to set the height of the pickups very low, the preamp has the "envelope filter" effect when swiped them, the neck it's the most confortable I have tried, very well constructed, matte finishing, very confortable.
Here are some pictures and a video for everyone who wants to know how this beauty sounds.
I'm not searching for a trade, please send me a PM to more details about the price and the shipping, I'm outside US but I have a relative in San Antonio, so the shipping could be include to anyone who lives in the south of the country and some extra dollars to shipping it to the rest of the country.
