Up for sale is a very nice Warmoth Gecko 5. The body is walnut with a quilted redwood top and a maple pinstripe. Body is finished in clear poly. The bolt-on, 35-inch-scale neck is wenge/bloodwood with a 14-inch-radius, two-octave Indian rosewood fingerboard. It neither has nor needs a finish. It is a fine instrument, in excellent condition, and solid as a rock.
Electronics are Duncan ASB2-5s with an Aguilar OBP2 preamp (9V). This baby delivers biting, modern tone for days—grinding with a sharp attack. The 2-band preamp is very versatile. As it turns out it's not really suitable for my usual gig, and I have not played it out much.
Other hardware/features include Takeuchi bridge with thru-body option, Gotoh tuners, stainless steel frets, two-way truss rod, GraphTech XL nut, and Planet Waves strap buttons (my faves). It will ship in a Fender double gigbag.
There is a minor imperfection in the wood under the bass frequency knob (nearest the bridge): a silver-dollar-size flat depression (called 'dishing' and 'blushing', I've been told) that you'll only see with close inspection under hard light, but it is there.
Neck width at nut: 1-7/8 inches
String spacing at bridge: 19mm
Weight: 10 lbs.–14 oz.
This instrument would cost 2-1/2 times this price (or more) if you had one made for you.
$675 shipped, CONUS, east of the Mississippi. Add $25 more beyond there. (Less for a local deal.)
