For trade - Xotic XB-2 5 string bass. Mint condition. These are pretty rare, especially in this condition. Body is ash, with a flame Maple cap. 3 piece Maple neck with a quarter-sawn center and flat-sawn wings, maximizing stability and tone transmission. 24 Frets, thick, solid slab of ebony fretboard, beautifully radiused, and the fretwork is exquisite. Circular aluminum dot markers, and aluminlay side markers It’s 9.5 lbs on my scale. Neck is joined to body by 5 bolts, with a very deep channel for the neck fitting into the body. 1.87" at the nut, 19mm spacing at the bridge.
Electronics are Kent Armstrong soapbar pickups and the original Xotic 3-band preamp, with some parameters variable by dipswitches accessible through the backplate. You get active treble/middle/bass, and volume/passive tone/pickup blend. Two toggles, I've seen these pickups described as single/double coil, or as parallel/series. Tone is massive in either passive or active mode and the preamp makes any tone possible. Well used but completely functional with no issues Mono brand gig bag.
Not looking for fretless or six string please. Prefer lighter instruments, but you never know. Please IM me privately here on Talkbass with any offers or questions. Sorry, US only. Thanks for looking.
Here's Carmine Rojas playing it's twin:
