I have a lot of Yamahas and it's time to share the love. I cannot believe how well these BB basses are made; you get way more than "bang for your buck" with Yamaha. Not currently interested in trades, as I need to fund some recent purchases.

1. Yamaha BB425X in red metallic finish. Excellent condition with upgraded Gotoh bridge.
Bass is in stellar condition, weighs 10.2 lbs. The pictures are from the previous owner (who is a better photographer than I am) but the bass looks the same now as it did then. I have no case for this, but it will be securely and safely packed. *UPDATE* I now have a Fender gigbag to ship it in.
$400 $350 shipped
. SOLD!

2. Yamaha BB1025X in caramel brown. I'm still kind of on the fence about this one, as it is simply an amazing instrument. Its construction and playability rival the USA Lakland that I used to have. 10.2 lbs, stainless steel nut, blade-style pickups, Brand new DR Fat Beams installed. Includes Yamaha gig bag. $800 $750 shipped. SOLD!

Definitely nails the p bass sound, but a tad more aggressive. The 1025X is a bit mellower than the 400 series, but these basses are versatile enough to do rock, jazz, funk, or whatever you need. I love the three position switch and the ease of switching between (and blending) P and Jazz sounds. Really incredible instruments!

Can't find anything about string spacing on Yamaha's website, but another thread here says the 425 is 18.5 at the bridge. I'm not sure about the 424, but one site puts the 2024 (essentially the same bass but MIJ with more "under the hood") at 19.5. The 424 feels and plays like my 60's P bass.

I have the same 424, and it's a steal at that price. I've been playing it non stop since I got it 4 years ago. It plays great, sounds great, and has a super stable neck. When I got the frets leveled last year (first time I've used one bass enough to need that!) the tech commented on how great the neck is.
