My drummer thought the same thing when I sold all my Ampeg stuff for Hartke stuff. I have no problem with Ampeg but the Hartke bite just suited me better. He has since said I made a great choice and doesn't think I'm crazy.

Yes most likely....I suggest a shot of thorozine and plenty of rest. With help and supervision you can overcome this. Good luck and don't pay any attention to the voices in your head.

Crate stuff is awesome I missed out on a bid for a Crate head still regret it and no you are not crazy
I havn't played thru my Crate head for a while. Well last night I plugged in it and jammed for about an hour.........Then I put my GB Shuttle up for sale.
I play my Vista MusicMaster now through an old Traynor Stage 120B and dumped my GK MB115 to the next sucker.

Usually when I find that an amp or bass is THAT much better then I thought or expected I try to replicate the experience a few times in a few different environments. Still though, there are times that you need to follow your gut. The Crate stuff I've played over the years has varied but basically the older stuff is like Peavey in terms of being loud and reliable, usually with a little more edge.
Crate amps weren't bad. Low cost, yes, but not bad at all. Heard this dude who played in a Motown band kill it one night with his Crate amp and 215.
I have two. BXH220 and BX440H. Same model, but different power ratings, and the 440 is bi-ampable.

Listening is subjective. If you haven't heard the crate for a while it may sound better because it's "fresh" and you're hearing it with "new ears".
Set them both up side-by-side in your practice room and A-B them for a few days, then make a decision.
Better yet take them both to a gig or rehearsal and compare how they sound in a mix.

My Crate bass head was traded in for my Ampeg PF-500 last Christmas. My Crate bass head was perfectly fine and had a nice tone, but at 200 watts was struggling to keep up at "stage" levels even through a 4x10 cab. I wouldn't mind having another one for backup/home use if I can find one for the right price.
