Check out Garth Fieldings review on the D'Addario Chromes:



At 1:11-18 he states that flatwounds are scooped! When I heard him say that, I was like: 'What? Chromes are scooped? He's joking, right? No flatwound is scooped. Right?'

And that 'right', made me decide to create my first poll on TB, because I really want to know what the TB-community thinks:

D'Addario Chromes (or other flats): Are they scooped?
 
There was a thread on here comparing the Chromes to the new Fender Stainless Steel Flats and from what I recall there was a mid scoop in the Chromes compared to the other flats that were analyzed with some fancy science gadgets. When I listen to them I think they sound kind of lacking in the low mid range, but I also usually hear them through Ampeg equipment.
