KICK DRUM EQ

Hi.

Welcome to TalkBass Chris.

HPF at 50Hz, cut the ~65Hz to avoid nausea (stomach resonant frequency) and sparingly boost the ~85Hz region (chest cavity resonance) for "chest thump".

The rest is up to the individual drum and personal preference.

Of course, if there's no sub 100Hz material to work with, You're SOL.

Regards
Sam

cut bass below 50Hz to get rid of mud
cut 250Hz - 500Hz to get rid of ringing
add in 800Hz 1Khz to hear the beater attack

All of these set to your preference, and to match the room acoustics.

There are some YouTubes on it.

in general, boost lows for the thump, scoop out low-mids to eliminate boxiness and flabbiness, boost high mids and highs to taste for attack (gently for normal stuff, boosted highs for metal).
