I really like that trans orange on the Kabuki, I’m a sucker for nice wood grain.
In dealing with Pat on my build I spec’d the paint by manufacturer and part number. It was a very expensive paint and only comes in quarts so the paint job on just the raw wood body was about $800. Pat offered to try and match the paint color at his normal painting costs of about $400 but I wanted an exact match, so I opted for the higher cost route, it came out perfect. The neck is wenge/wenge as are the pickguard and control cavity cover. Here’s the full body shot front and back…

Wow - is that orange a car colour/industrial acrylic? Is it a slight pearl? It looks to have a lot of depth. This is just me, but as you saw on my orange basses - black goes really well with orange. (as your bridge/tuners/knobs illustrate) - I would like to see the pg & hs face stained black for contrast. You'd still see the grain and it would pop more. (or no pg...) Just my ignorable 2cents...

My CP is like yours for pickup spacing, looked at it last night. I think mine's an early 2013.

I was corrected, apparently Eppi made the magic pup spacing CP from some time in 2012 to sometime in 2013. Very nice virtual Gibson basses at a fraction of the cost.

You’re spot on with the color suggestions (as usual. Gotta love an artists eye for color and balance). That’s why it has a different neck now vs when you were here at the house. The old wenge/wenge neck was too brown/grey, hence the new neck which is a dark stained Wenge/Wenge much closer to black (think dark chocolate vs milk chocolate). I still need to stain the pickguard and control cavity to match, that’s why there’s no Tbird logo on the guard yet.

Here’s the paint spec, Pat had quite a bit left over so hit him up if you think about finishing anything in that color…
