Thunderbird Club

Speaking of our buddy Buddha, I did a quick sound recording of the Roto strings I just installed on the bird he helped name, the ThumbDerBird (named after the Warwick Thumb bass that inspired the build). Anyway, just for the record, here’s what a couple of MEC Jazz pups (crammed down to the bridge) and an MEC 2 band preamp sound like with some nice bright Rotosound rounds…

All clips set with Bass at 50% boost and treble flat.

Neck pup only, E string run

Bridge pup only, E string run

Both pups full on together, E string run

All very useable, no typical jazz quack or honk to speak of. Sounds very much like my Thumb BO5. The higher strings are very articulate and full sounding as well. Should be a nice slap bass (someone else will have to demo that, it’s beyond my pay grade).

Cool stuff for bass nerds!
