OC2 and BugBrand Bug Crusher micro :). And yeah, that thar MF101/MP201

Edit: speaking of John Davis, I haven't seen him around here lately. Perhaps that custom IE filter opened a wormhole to another dimension and he got whipped in. Whipped Davis - good on ice cream AND in your morning coffee! INANOTHERDIMENSION.

There's a fairly simple schematic for a stripped down BugCrusher on perfboard. I think the IC's are the most expensive at around $10 a piece.

Get that, get an expression pedal, getcha a filter to use with that, and an octave. Work, yes, but cheaper than his combo and just as effective.

Cool, I was just reading that interview last night. Nice blog!

The pedals I can make out in that pic are OC-2, MF-101/MP-201, Wooly Mammoth. Think there's one more that I'm not familiar with. And is that the BugCrusher up on top of his flight case?

I think you're right. I understand his complains about the Moogs hiss etc. it bothers me sometimes in the studio, but is never heard live... Plus my 5 foogers in a row looks awesome. I'd be interested to hear some side by side videos of the 2.

Ironic really. Nottingham Panthers is my local Ice Hockey team and I used to be a MASSIVE fan. I was also an Airsoft team member and played weekly and at all the national events. The name has followed me from forum to forum over 10 years. Ironically I now get to about 1 hockey game a season and no longer airsoft due to music becoming a bigger part of my life/time/money etc etc. Fairly in accurate Description of me these days!

Anyway - back on topic. John Davis is a badass. Fact :)

Whoa, hey! Thread! For that track on the video, it was indeed OC2 into BugCrusher into MF101. On the record, however, I had made a patch in the MP201 that was more of a ringmod style high frequency modulation, I think using the noise waveform. It worked on the track, but didn't sound clear enough live, so I started using the Bug instead with a standard sweep.

I've been super busy in the studio, so I haven't had much time to hang on here. I've also been reading the DB side a lot, as I'm thinking about changing to synthetic gut core strings, and reading lots of threads on that...

Gonna be tracking Janek Gwizdala's new record today and tomorrow and he is streaming the session... Should be a fun watch.
