Filters are only fun for me when the mix knob is at 100%... That's what makes it sound like a synth.

I think that the expression was controlling the amount into the cutoff, while also increasing resonance.

Thanks for the info John. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to throw out a few newbie questions. I'm sure they'll be indicative of my general ignorance on the subject, but here goes anyway...

Does the use of CV/Ex.Pedal mean that you're bypassing the 'trigger' on the filter? Do you always control to control your filters this way? What exactly does 'cutoff' mean, and how does this work functionally/sonically?

Not sure what you mean by 'trigger', I'm guessing you mean the threshold where an envelope filter would quack or the Q... From what i understand its not an envelope filter, but a static low pass or high pass filter so it wont move unless he uses CV/EXP to to slide the Frequency cuttoff.

No the frequency Cutoff is the frequency in HZ that he's using as the that is the minimum value to allow through the filter. As he increases the cutoff the filter blooms(WAH), and he lowers the cutoff its closes(OW).

It's nice, but hearing it in a band context has convinced me the Moog is the right unit for me. Not sure about the overly thin wet tone of the Xero. Think I can happily stick with a little hiss and whistle
