Thoughts on new Sire F10 DC?

Wow! Sire seems to be upping the game again. I like the look of the new double cut F10 with walnut top. I don't like the 35" scale, or at least I don't think I do. Unless it plays like a Lakland which doesn't feel like 35" scale to me (looking at you Spector).

Anybody happened to get their hands on one of these? They seem to be hitting stores now. I prefer the pickup configuration on the 6 strings with the tappable dual coil soapbars over the P/J of the 5 string. But I'm certainly open minded.

I didn't like the original singlecut F10 that came out a year or two ago, but I think the double cut you posted and the F10dx singlecut look great. If they ever do the F10dx with a narrower string spacing and shorter scale length, a la Matt Garrison/Janek Gwizdala, I would be first in line for one.

PJ doesn’t look right.
35 scale doesn’t feel right.
They are most likely 10 plus pounders.

Hard pass for me. Sometimes it’s hard to accept the knock off substitute when you have and are completely satisfied with the real deal .

It might look like , but I doubt if it plays like and sounds like the real deal.

Now if all of that doesn’t matter to you, you might enjoy it. Some people prefer 35 scale, more weight, and will be happy with the sound.

I got a lot of push back when I posted about planning to get a 35 inch Schecter 5. Now that I have it, I hardly notice it’s a 35. There’s not much choice for flat strings, but enough. And the B sounds great. Get or don’t get this based on other stuff, but IMHO the 35 inch scale length is no problem.

I bought my first 35" scale bass last year, a Lakland 55-02. I honestly didn't not know it was 35 inches until someone asked me how I liked the longer scale length. I obviously didn't buy it for the scale length but more to flip it...I bought it for a song because the mids didn't work. It was a simple fix...just turn on a switch in the rear cavity...LOL.

I actually like it and will keep it...when I started playing it (still unaware that it was a 35" scale) something felt different. After I was made aware of the longer scale length, it all made sense but I couldn't tell you what was different at the time...all I know is the B string felt tighter and sounded tighter. I play the 55-02 most of the time now and going back to a shorter scale bass does feel (and make) a difference. At least in my hands.

Sorry to ask, but what's the aversion 35" scale for 5 stringers? I have 34", 35", and 36-34" scale and they all have their place. My 34" plays a little easier (I have small hands) BUT the B stays quite a bit tighter on the 35" and especially 36".

Additional thought are it looks super cool! I absolutely LOVE the mid frequency selector and it looks 'high-end' without being too 'flashy'. I'm a 16.5mm string spacing kind of guy, but this would be right up at the top of my list if I were looking for an 18mm!

Nice try but the bridge is too far in from the end of the body and the upper horn falls short of the 12th fret. It will have a longer reach to the nut than necessary. Looks good though.

The 6 string especially is very “Monarch” looking. Though the upper strap horn is significantly short of the 12th fret… AND 35”? Whew. (That’s WAY too far of a reach for me). Pickup placement is nearly identical as well.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all of some clueless egghead at Chrysler or even some aged retiree thought the Crossfire gave 911 vibes lol

How many people have decided between Fender and Sire? EBMM and Sire? You would be surprised.

I’ve seen these referred to as the Faux dera on YouTube reviews. Search faux dera Sire on YouTube and see what happens.

I don't know... the upper horn doesn't look that short of the 12th fret does it? Seems like it is pretty much right there. And the bridge doesn't seem that far from the end of the body either. Certainly not like how far away Spector bridges are from the end of the body.

I'd definitely consider one of these over a Fodera if it played and sounded great. I've seen listings online with weights on the 5 string under 10 lbs. Fodera's aren't exactly always light weight basses either. I know a lot of people don't care about scale length but I have experienced frustration with the added inch — notably with Spector and MTD 535's. Now Roscoe and Lakland 35" scale basses I don't have issue with. I wish I could try one of these somewhere.

I found the four string to be aesthetically pleasing. Put the close to $1800 with tax price tag has me less interested.

And the weight is always concern with sire. They all appear to be 9 pounds or more on Sweetwater.
