What is best multi-effects box for bass?

Hey y'all. I am a bass player wanna-be who just plays at home and once in awhile with a few friends.

Bought a new EH Micro Synth pedal but I also want some variety (flange, distort, wah, phase shift, chorus, etc., etc.) with an expression pedal. Got a budget of $300 and I see numerous boxes available. But I also read reviews and they are mixed for the most part.

Looking for some real un-biased advice on what you feel I should look seriously into. Like everyone else I want as much bang for the buck as I can get while having a quality product. Graci :help: :cool:

The Bass Pod Pro is pretty nice. Use one at church. I don't use the amp/cab modeling. The effects are nice enough.

The M9 would be another good choice.

I am disappointed in the level (lack of) product and updates for bass players - they obviously are geared to the billions of potential guitar customers instead - but it can sound pretty nice.

Why is it always BEST? There are lots of good to great choices and everyone has theirs:Boss, Digitech, Line 6, Rocktron, Zoom are the big boys along with Korg, AdrenaLinn lll Tascam and the list goes on.
Boss ease of use, dependable but the sounds are so general this is to me a generic choice.
Digitech a real sleeper but i don't really dig their current format but the BP8 is the great grand daddy and still rocks.
Line 6 lots of folks really love their stuff especially the M series but their choices for bass are pretty tame and again generic IMO.
Rocktron makes some interesting stuff if a bit limited for bass.
Zoom IMO offers the best overall bang for buck, sound but the user interface is a bit daunting on the B1 and B2 series with an expanded format on the B9ut, the only other problem is no aux input for mp3 or cd for play along.

BOSS GT-10B can be had for that if you're patient. Tons of options, good sounding bass effects, even some really basic synth effects, stereo 1/4" and XLR outputs, FX loops, built in control pedals plus external control pedal support. Best bang for your buck overall.

I just switched from individual pedals to a Zoom B9.1ut. It comes in right at your $300 budget and packs a ton of different effects. Great value for the $. It's true that good quality individual pedals sound better, but the cost starts to add up, they take up more floor space, can only be switched one at a time, and if you're new to effects you really don't know what you need or like until you've tried them. The zoom seems to be a great way to experiment with everything and figure out when you want. You can also get a MIDI to USB adapter for $30 and dial in your patches using downloadable software for your PC - much easier than hunched over your pedalboard.

+1 I've had one for almost two years and played countless gigs with it. I've even played gigs without any amp behind me. Just monitors or inears.

No it's just that everyone has different needs, expectations, patience and ability to learn plus there is always the tone police self appointed hard headed expert snobs to deal with ie winpy gtr players~~huh huh dooode you got a Boss when xyztrinitwakka is so much better......
I could do pretty much everything with my Zoom B2.1u but still like to add a couple of pedals fuzz and BassBalls at least.

The M9/M13 has a great Octaver, even better tracking than the EBS Octabass.

Funny, my B9.1ut has an 1/8" AUX IN. Use it all the time.

I agree with bassbrad find what works for you dude! I have tried a GT6B BP200, but now I use a ZoomB91.ut IMHO and for my use the sounds need the least anount of tweaking to do what I want.
Pedals can be a trail and error thing as most will tell you. The best is by someone's personal opinon, so my advise is make yours.
