Here is one of the current builds that I am experimenting with:

Build272.jpg

I have chambered the top and the bridge will be bolted to the Cocobolo.

My hypothesis is that the bridge bolted to the top will add some umph to the sound. We'll see.

Yes. By design actually. If I had kept that beautiful line of knots I would have had some seriously cracked knots that I chose to cut off. I think that the flowing grain around the pups will be good enough and the guy receiving this is pretty excited.

Interesting. Will be curious to hear the results. I would have to think it would sound great unplugged with the bridge/chamber placement. I'm guessing the control cavity is open so you can fasten the nuts on the ends of the bolts? What will the cavity cover afix to?

All screws will be in threaded inserts.

I've been toying with a similar idea only I would "float" the pickups on the top plate as well. Subbed since experimentation is one of my favorite hobbies. Keep us well informed(not that I think you wouldn't).

Neat idea to float the pups as well... Perhaps I will go further if I achieve my expectations with this one.

The inspiration is a modified Sadowsky which is a modified Jazz therefore this is a modified^2 Jazz. :smug:

The sides are still very rough. I have yet to figure out how to get a smooth and finished cut of the bandsaw. But I'm working on it. ;)

Well if you find out how, let me know.....

That's the same reason I went a bought all I needed to build a router table.......Also if you do ever buy a router table mount, the "Jessem" Mast-R-Lift is hands down awesome... and will easily fit a PC 690 router

Cool experiment! I have a few questions/comments:

When I think of 'oomph', I think of strong attack and long sustain.

I am curious what your definition of 'oomph' is and how your concept of bolting the bridge to the top over a chamber will specifically impact the sound. Do you anticipate more resonance in the amplified output?

I will take some sound clips from this and a twin that is without the chambering. I expect no attributable changes in the amplified sound but I do expect a little acoustic noise when playing unplugged.
