WOW, I am nervouse,

My audition is tomorrow night.

Getting back in the game at 56, and it's a Pop/Rock Band.

I am going to lay down some super solid grooves, that all I can do. I know my age will work against me , but I'm going to do it anyway.

You know, singing "Stacy Mom" at 56 just don't make a whole lot of sence.

Please wish me luck,I'm going to need the support.

BTW, I had my hair dyed today

Good luck, and don't sweat it. Just enjoy it. I too, have recently got back into the game after a 20+ year lay off. It took me a while to find the right band to join, but it was worth the wait.

Admittedly, you have 10 years on me, but the same situation nonetheless. We're just a bunch of older cats having fun & making music. :bassist:

Tell ya what you will find alot of bands will find an older player with decent talent as a hot ticket. The older player is mature,normally has income, decent gear, dependable and dedicated. I got back into playing at 40 after not being in a real band since high school. After almost 7 years now of gigging and bands i still love it and have had no problems finding work. I saw a good cover band this past weekend where the singer (female) was quite young the older players were great and the bassist who might have been the oldest was groovin.

So how did the audition go?

It was really fun.

Small rehearsal space, I nailed the 3 songs from their set list that I had been practicing all weekend.I laid down a strong groove on all 3.I bought my Hofner Club, they provided an Ampeg Combo

You guys know I was sort of freaked out about my age.(56)

The core founders of this band have been together since 1997;

Founding Member, lead guitar & vocals (35)
Another Founding Menmber guitar back up vocals (35)
Femal on keyboards and vocals (21)
Great drummer (21)

I was relaxed, even told a few jokes.

They asked, what kind of stuff do you like?

My response;

"I'm not sure, I really havn't listend to anything recorded after 1972"

Female Keyboards tag along friend (very hot) leaves
the room;

Me:

"How did I end up not being 18 anymore"

They all cracked up.

I am not sure I will acept if I get an offer.But I proved I can still do it.

Bottom line, I am still the artist I was 40 years ago, maybe a little wiser.
