I ordered a Dingwall NG3 a little over a year ago from a Canadian dealer right after the tariffs went into effect. They were about $1500 less than Sweetwater. Dealer told me there would be no tariffs because he had a form that would exempt it. I had it shipped to a local hardware store that was a UPS station.
When it arrived I went to pick it up and the owner of the hardware store told me I owed a little over $700 in taxes and tariffs. I called the dealer and he tried to get it straightened out but failed.
I left it at the hardware store and happened to run into my local UPS driver. He told me to call a lady at the distribution center. I went back to the hardware store abd called from there. She spoke with the owner then told me that the UPS driver that services the hardware store would be there shortly and should be able to sort it out.
When he arrived he signed the bass back into his possession, then had me sign for it.
I took the bass home.
My name, address and phone number were nowhere on any of the shipping tickets or receipts. All they had was my signature which is difficult to read.
I was never charged any taxes or tariffs. The Regional Manager from UPS stopped by the hardware store wanting to know who I was. He knew my first name (nickname) but nothing else. End of story.
