Ages ago I signed up not understanding how the signup worked and put my full name as my username. I'd like to change my username now. How do I do this?

I think it is not possible to change username, change your password is possible but change username is not, so you should create new account now if you are looking for some other username.

False--you change usernames by sending a message to one of the site admins, usually via the "contact us" button for the forum. It's also against forum rules to have multiple accounts.

I'm one of the administrators. As Bongomania said, use the 'contact us' button at bottom of forum

They generally don't change user names unless you are switching to your real name.

Considering you have to take down the site to do a change I don't have any problem with the policy.
I just see too many threads that say contact an admin to change user names without this fairly important caveat.

Well, that's not true. The vBulletin Admin CP makes it quite simple to change usernames. Any reason to not allow users to change names other than to their real name, or to a handle, is strictly administrative and not because the site has to be taken down..
