I can't believe how many opinions there are on gear in this forum. It 's all about your passion and what your going to put into being a good bass player.
It doesn't matter if you have a 100.00 SX or a 5,000.00 Vintage Fender. Samething goes for amps.
When I started playing in 1966 you either had a Fender or some sort of knock-off if you could jam it didn't matter.
Remember that kid in High School with the brand new Corvette. same principle.
I hear all this stuff about string and tone. I use old strings , I fon't know what they are. My low end comes from the meaty part of my fingertips and the high end when I use a little of my finger nail. It's worked for 40 years.
