Brubaker Brute

That's really cool! So what's the catch? Where's it made?

my guess would be bodies and necks built to Brubaker's specs by someone like Cort (just like how Cort builds for: Ibanez, Fender, Lakland Skyline,G&L Tribute, etc., etc.) and then possibly assembled or checked over/set-up in the Brubaker shop in the US.

That price is right around the level of a G&L Tribute. If the build quality is that nice, it will be a nice option at the lower/mid price point. I am going to talk to my favorite local dealer to see if he might interested in Brubaker. I know he is considering Lakland, and this sure looks like it could appeal to the same sort of buyer.

Brad, don't be such a tease! That picture is great, but I want some details about the preamp, pickups, wood, etc.:)

Thanks for all of the comments. Still nailing down some of the details, looks like it will have a 3 band preamp, not sure of what particular preamp and pickups will be in the final product. The burst figured Maple pickguard was a recent change from the clear figured Maple one that was at NAMM. Also the headstock will be contoured like the US basses vs. flat. Still has the deep set bolt-thru neck designed, in a modified form. Solid colors so far, not sure which will be initially available. It's made in China.

Target street price AFAIK is $699. I played the pictured bass and it is indeed impressive, especially at that pricepoint.

the 'burst p/g was the deal closer for me :D looks waaaaaay too cool!

again, cool to see the 2+3 headstock with some more 'gooder' consideration to string tensions/etc. as well as the p/up placement.
