I'm down to only one bass!

Well this is briliant. And that's not sarcasm! I'm officially down to one bass, just a Yamaha BB604. And I'm now happier without my MIA P Bass and Musicman SUB. Of course there's still the EB-2 under my bed but that hasn't been played for about 7 years and it's also sentimental. I had the 604 set up professionally and it plays well and can do lots of different tones.

With fuel prices going through the roof I'm also thinking of buying a Vespa for city transport!

I'd just like to know if there are any other 1 bass brethren out there and if so say it loud and say it proud.

Yep. If I only ever played one style of music that needed one kind of bass, I'd still bring along a spare to gigs.

I'm just about to try sell a couple.
One acoustic 5 and one set neck electric 5.
I tend to use only one of my basses and don'rt want anything sitting around here that I do't actually need.
I'm no collector.

Up to three from one. Have always been a one bass guy for 30+ years. Then I bought a five and most recently a fretless all for 'good' gig reasons but it is much harder to keep intimate with three instruments.

I'm going down to one (Sadowsky). It sounds so good that I don't want to play anything else. Also, I've never needed a backup in spite of being in one of the busiest bands around.

I'm down to two, one fret-ed, and one fret-less. The fret-less is actually for sale so I could be down to one here shortly. My only reservation is not having a backup, but I haven't used a backup in over a year so life should be good. I only gig with the Skjold these days...

for many years I also had the "I got em, use em all" attitude, but now although I have multiple basses, I use one pretty much exclusively, which is my Jackson TBX. like many, I always bring one as a spare just in case, but in 15 years of playing gigs, I never broke a string, or had a battery die in the thing during a gig, that required my stand-by bass to be pulled off the stand.

To each his own to those who like to use 10 basses within a month for different situations, BUT to those who only use one bass, and never had a mishap like me, -- AWESOME!!!

I am down to just my Mike Lull M5V - it does everything I need and I would be ok if that's all I can have (financially speaking). But I am wanting another 5, for a backup, but that's for when I am actively gigging again.

I also had only 1 bass for 6 years (from '00-'06) - it was my first bass after switching from guitar - a Carvin LB76. Then after that I've had up to 5 but now it's back to 1.

EDIT: And just to add, I think 3 basses would be all I would ever need as an active musician - IMO, 3 5-strings - 2 fretted & 1 fretless - will do me fine for as long as I can foresee.

Did have three but i decided to sell my G&L Tribute. And i happy with my fender and warwick.

I think 2 bass is needed for me, because my warwick break down once for no reason so i lucky i got my fender as backup or the other way round (my warwick is a backup).
