i had another thread where im trying to sell a bunch of my gear, this bass included. in the meantime, i thought itd be fun to post pics of the restoration i did of this '97 corvette, all wenge neck. i have a ton of pictures that id be glad to send to anyone but for this thread, i decided to keep it minimal. in short, i completely gutted this thing. i had to repair a bunch on knicks in the head and even i tiny crack on the back of the headstock. the faceplate on the headstock was getting dull so the picture you see of the headstock where it seems polished, is the restored version. it actually had a bunch of kicks in it as well but with superglue, a black perm. marker, 600 grit sandpaper and 0000 steel wool, it looks like new. i lightly sanded the body with 600 grit sandpaper and finally 0000 steel wool to get rid of excess dirt and the likes. after that i applied a few coats of tung oil. its a little shiny in the pics but in a way, i kinda like it. i ordered all new hardware from germany (black instead of silver) and finally i ordered some EMG pickups with the BQC system so, control-wise, id have the same controls as the stock MEC pickups had. i needed to make a choice. 400+ dollars for MECs or 250 bucks for EMGs.
