Aus bassists '70's tube beast 4 sale

YEah that's a good site-the Ozvalve amps thingy. All the ppl involved are helpful re Aussie valve amps too!!!! The GOLD frontd EMINAR amp was the same as my old one- listed as a Eminar 100w PA head. Mine had an extra 6CA7's tho & was rated at 150w. tho my tech tested it at about 170w!!!!!! Sounded good, but EQ was limited for bass purposes.
The amp I linked on Aus. Ebay looks to be a beauty tho. LOT's of Aus. bands used these in the '70's! Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs eg.

ive got a similar one (a 200w holden/wasp with 4 6550's). i believe my preamp is a bit different as mine was for guitar (no master volume, so a clean guitar). i changed some caps to get some more low end out of it (was a bit bright before), and it sounds great through my homemade 1x15. i got mine for a bargain for 500$ with the matching 4x12 (guitar cab, not bass) with plessey 12u50's. i was kinda contemplating making a bid, but i dont need it. give it a go though someone.

im thinking that i should change the filter caps, being from the early 70's, but i havent yet

I never heard of one of thse but it looks pretty cool to me. the amp appears to have three RCA 6550's and one GE 6550. The basses on the RCA's say something like MINI***??? but i can't quite make it out, however they do have the RCA hexagon ("stop sign") on the top of them. The trannies look a little rusty on top but the insides look pristine. and with those large trannies, i would expect it to have some power.

I see the "mini" in the pic, but it appears aftermarket. Those RCA's are actually Tungsol; that's the Tungsol octagon on top. RCA never made their own 6550's, but sold at various times, Sylvania small bottle 6550's, Tungsol 6550's, and later GE and Philips 6550A's as "RCA."

I've got a WASP 6550/200 watter - pretty similar to this one, but I think mine's a little older.
These amps gets a bad wrap for being cheaply made, and having noise issues in the pre-amp stages. I've noticed neither of these problems with mine at all.
Very loud amp - but whoa is she heavy! A good 20 kilo's at least, so postage won't be cheap.
FYI - I bought it interstate - and she got dropped in transit. So if anyones thinking about it, INSURE it for the more than the market/repair cost.

It's exactly the same layout in the poweramp section.
These are great amps. Anyone interested will not be disappointed.
(no connection to seller - just a happy owner:))

The really cool thing about these old WASP's - many of the "more experienced" muso's have played these amps - I get questions and compliments all the time - it's the first amp to actually help me get more gigs!
