What did I just buy?! Help

Hey all, I was cruising ebay and saw this bass.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=120430379748

If that link doesn't work... the item number is:

12043037974

I thought it was beautiful and put a really low bid on it, thinking "Hell I probably won't win it."

Well I did:eek:, and I was looking at it and thought to myself, what the hell did I just buy? :rollno:That is not a Gibson, and I don't think an Epiphone. The number is right but the neck is a Epiphone...but the body?:help:

I also wanted to know what can be done about the cracks...if anything, and did I just screw myself big time? I was looking for a nice one to fix up, but really, what did I just buy?!

Thanks guys

looks like an epiphone bass to me ,the bridge is epiphone with those heavy brass saddles, see how it plays when you get it, for that price it seems OK. dont worry about those little cracks on each side of the neck. keep us posted and let us know how you like it.

I have my fingers crossed on it. I have a guy I can give it to that will clean it up electrically for me and yeah it looks wild.

I have always wanted a string through body, I just never thought I would get one this way! Haha, I will be sure to let everyone know how it is, and better pics. So the consensus is that is in fact Ephiphone? (Its obviously not Gibson)

Hmmm, thanks guys. Its good to know what it is. I wasn't sure about the body as I had never seen a 'fender-ish' epi before.

Anyone's take on the sound? Its kinda strange but any review I have seen is an either 'love it' or 'hate it'. But really, what should I expect?

I know its not a big chunk of change, but I do hope it turns out ok.

I'll post pictures and more when I get it. I think maybe next mon or sat?

If you're able to make good music with it... it will be and even sweeter deal.

You can probably fine plenty of original and or after market parts for it for cheap if you need or want to.

I like to find used gems and see how nice I can fix them up for as little as possible.

Thank you guys for all the responses. I was kicking myself thinking I might have made a bad purchase.

I'm intrested in hearing how it sounds and what all needs to be done. The seller mentioned the Volume pot wasn't working well. Can you guys recommend a good replacement part? It might just be a bad connection.

Thinking about dropping new pups in also, but we'll see.

And lastly, the string through body setup, thats just for a better sustain, right? Sorry for the silly question, but is there any other benefits to it?

Thanks yall
