So, I'm really considering getting a Savannah; probably an F4 or F5 - maybe an SBT, though I wouldn't plan on showing it.
I've been saying for years that I wanted a "big kitty" as a pet. Lately, I've found myself thinking on it more and more and have been doing in depth reserach on it.
As awesome as it would be to get a Serval, I 1) can't here, and 2) don't think I'm really of the type to have a "true exotic" as a kitty. Next best thing is a Savannah.

I'm thinking that not many TBers have one or anything, but hey, why not post here anyway, right? If you do, pics etc. are of course required.

There is a particular breed of grey, shorthair, very broadfaced cat that gets very large (I mean, VERY large, like small-ish Mountain Lion looking and in build, but not quite that scale). I had a friend whose parents had two. I never thought to ask the breed.

I'm inclined to think they are British Shorthair, they're not Maine Coon or Russian Blue...any thoughts? I can't seem to find a definitive site describing what I recall.

I'm not sure about that myself... I'd be interested in hearing what it is. Any google images that come close?

Each "F" is just that, the generation of the kitty.
F1 = domestic cat bred with Serval.
F2 = domestic cat with F1 Savannah
F3 = domestic cat with F2 Savannah, or F2 and F4 Savannah bred

etc. etc.

Typical F1s are about 50% domestic, 50% Serval. You "can" get 75% Serval (an F1 bred with another Serval) as well, but they're still considered "F1s".
F2s are about 25% Serval, F3s are about 12.5% and F4 etc. are all mostly just looks. Hence why I want an F3. :)

For further reference, it's not uncommon to see an F1 kitten run $10,000, but they can be had for nearer $6,000 as well. F2s can be $7,000, but can be had around $3,500.
