High Quality Light Weight Bass

I am looking into getting as light a bass as possible while maintaining a solid deep tone.
I am Warwick player, and love the tone but the weight is getting to my lower back :-<
What are some quality options?
I have visited a few stores to get some ideas but did not get much help.

The only bass manufacturer that comes to my mind is Basslab. You can check them out here. Their STD 5 weighs just 3 kg.

Some Sadowsky Metros are under 8 lbs too.
I`ve never played one, but heard that some Skjolds are quite light.

Elrick-can make you a 5er under 9lbs. I played an Elrick New Jazz std at 7.5 lbs. Great basses. Thin ash bodies with big tone.

My Rob Allen Mouse 30 is only 5.5lbs, but it's a shorty and has an upright vibe, which certainly works for me.

I believe Cliff Bordwell can build stuff really light, too. Hell, the list of luthiers who can do it is huuuuuge.

Mine is less than 8 pounds, and a six string.

Just about anything will feel light compared to a 'Wick, though!

Well if you get into the higher grade Warwicks like the Corvette Proline and Streamer LX, they are generally very lightweight basses. You'd be amazed...complete opposite of those bubbinga body jobs.

For big money, Elrick is incredible. Peaveys like Millenniums and Foundations are very light, cheap, and sound great. They also play great with super low action. :bassist:

One other you may want to consider is the Zon 'Vinny'. They make a 4 as well as a 5 string. Great Zon tone, rock solid grahite neck, and mine weighs less than 8 lbs.-- I think it's 7lbs 10 oz IIRC.

Check out Harry Fleishman's Antigravity. 5 pounds! Features a chambered spruce body, and sounds awesome. He's been working on licensing it through Jackson and I don't know the status of that project, but I'm sure he could custom build you one.
