Shuttle 6.0 direct out Mic vs. Line switch - what's it do?

My church is buying a 6.0 for its bassists (Suh-WEET). I see on the back there are three switches under the balanced out. The Ground Lift switch, Pre/Post EQ, and Mic/Line.

I understand the first two switches but what am I changing with the Mic/Line switch? I.e. does one setting take the signal off at a different point in the chain than the other, or what?

I looked up their owners manual online but didn't see any explanation of this switch's function in there. Thanks in advance.

Mic/line is just a simplified version of a DI volume control. Mic is lower level output, and line is higher level . In a high quality mixing board, it really doesn't matter, since the channel input should be able to handle any level of signal with the input pad (and some boards actually have a mic or line setting). In cheaper, less fully featured boards (that don't have true input pads at the 'pre input' level), the lower level setting would probably me more appropriate to make sure you aren't clipping the input to the board.

Changes the level of the signal. 'Mic' is mic level (or low), 'Line' is a higher level that can drive a line input. I actually leave mine at 'Line' because I had one complaint about signal to noise on one gig when it was set to 'Mic'. When I switched to 'Line', it went away. Almost every board can pad down the line level signal to work just fine.

EDIT: Wow, got beaten to the punch!
