Custom painted strap - The Tiki Bar is Open (boutique content)

I wanted a strap for my Koa Rob Allen Deep 5. As a collector of Hawaiian shirts and drinker of flaming zombies, I needed something appropriate to the Tiki Bar.

I turned to custom strap-maker Julius Medina and asked him to give me something inspiring.

Here's Lola. I think she might be a bit of a naughty girl (note her red high heels....my mom warned me about girls in red high heels).

While a bespoke strap may be a bit indulgent, I get a real kick out of it and commissioned him to do two more for my other primary basses.

Julius does other designs (celtic, traditional, rock a billy) and is a wonderful creative person. Check him out at www.medinamade.com

Looks fantastic! That's a great theme to go with the Koa, as well. I'm going to have to keep his site in mind. I haven't found that "perfect" strap to go with one of my basses after nearly two years of looking!

I'm a "full-figured" guy...lets just say I will have to keep your post in mind:)

I have a theory that Hawaiian shirts dont really work for skinny guys. But on a big guy they seem to work well.

Homer: Marge, the boy was wearing a Hawaiian shirt!
Marge: So?
Homer: There’s only two kind of guys who wear those shirts: gay guys and big, fat party animals, and Bart doesn’t look like a big, fat party animal to me!
Marge: So, if you wore a Hawaiian shirt, it wouldn’t be gay?
Homer: Right! Thank you.

From the episdoe Homer's Phobia...one of my favorites.

I rest my case.

Looks great! You would have loved my old band, "Fisherman's Tiki-Jive Trio". I played bongos and other percussion in that one, as well as Denny Martin-style birdcalls, monkey calls, and sound effects. The Fisherman played vibes and marimba, and the third guy played an electric-acoustic bass. We played all the tiki-related events in the Bay Area here for about three years. Fisherman moved to NYC, so any of you big fat gay Hawaiian shirt wearing guys ;) who want to see some fun and classy tiki burlesque, check him out. Invalid Link Removed

Again, very sweet-looking strap!

That so perfectly matches, it's amazing. Uncanny, even.

I might check that guy out. Maybe he can make the perfect strap for me. Although right now my main strap is one with the peacock feather design on it. I seriously bought it just because of that. But it's more comfortable than the basic nylon one I was using.
