Sudden output problem with Navigator

I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
Something strange has happened to my Eden Navigator - it is now no longer sufficiently driving the same power amps for which it was previously able to drive. The output is VERY low now when using the quarter inch outs or the XLR DI mains.

Has anyone had this problem with an Eden or with ANY preamp? Any suggestions? Help!

Never heard of that happening. Call Eden Monday first thing.

Is it possible that your house was hit by lightning or you've had a power surge? A few years ago my house was hit by lightning. My rig wasn't on but it was plugged in. After the storm I turned on the amp to practice and there was very little output. Sent it off to Eden and they confirmed the problem was the lightning. It was a very easy fix and they had it back to me very quickly.

It's possible - I'll give them a call on Monday...

I had that prob with my old Navigator, took it in, and they fixed a capacitor? I think... After that, it was good to go.

I just ordered a NOS Sylvania 12ax7, so I'll try that first. I got it for 14 bucks, so no loss if that isn't the issue. If that doesn't work, I'll send it to Eden (after calling them first, of course).

For reference - I tried a new 12ax7 yesterday and that didn't work. Called Eden this morning and got an auth return #, so I'll be sending it to them. If I had to guess, I'd bet it's the FETs which need replacing, based upon what Eric_Moesle told me about his.

You have a known Navigator problem, and I had the exact same issue with mine. Call Eden in MN at 763-675-1890 and ask for Dave/ tech support. He told me the problem is muting circuits failing. These are what keeps the signal muted during powering up while the tube comes up. He sait it could be caused by static built up, or bad phantom power getting through the DI somehow. In my case, my building was struck by lightning just prior to me noticing the issue so I suspect that. One thing he also said was if it becomes too big of a hassle these muting circuits can be removed altogether, eliminating the problem for good. You would just have to hear the noise as the unit warms up.
