deluxe jazz or deluxe precision?? or not deluxe?

Hi,
I've decided to buy a new bass, I've tryed several and my preferences are going to Fender Mexican (I'm not rich) deluxe ones.

first of all, what is your experience about active EQ deluxe fenders? I like the way you can change the tone and for this reason i prefer to standard version, but others ideas and dubts are welcome :hyper:

second, with the EQ regulation I can take a wide range of tones, in particular I think you can bring from P the tone of the jazz and viceversa. The neck is exactly the same..... so every time I play that stuff I can't decide (and I play for hours at local shop :bassist: ). any suggestion??

bye,
peace,
m.

Hi Marcopalla, my thought is that if you cannot hear the difference between the active and the passive, then pick the bass that feels best in your hands, and failing that, then get the passive bass. My experience was that I could not hear the difference but purchased the more expensive bass anyway. Although the $ difference did not really affect my wallet, I think it was a waste of $ and kind of regret it, although with my GAS, I is likely I would have bought it after the fact. :D
I think also, (not to sit on the fence or anything), play with the active electronics and think if you would like to have that kind of control at your finger tips or use the amp. In my playing, I rarely change my tone, so again, for me, passive was the answer!!!

Good luck, and post pictures of your new baby.

active or passive, is that the debate, or jazz vs P?

I personally prefer an active bass, but its up to you? they sound different, just choose whichever sound you prefer. I think people who have good amps like a passive bass more, because it lets them bring out more of the amp's tone - especially with tube amps I find... although that is a massive generalisation, its my 2cents worth.

as for jazz vs P... I'm a jazz guy - for no apparent reason actually? I think I just prefer the jazz bass body.
