Looking for a Tremolo & Maybe a Phaser

Ok, so my band have been doing some recording today & in the section of a song where it drops down to just the drums & bass, the tech distorted the hell out of my bass sound (love distorted bass & it sounded noice) & applied a Temolo effect to it, & that sounded amazing! So, with me knowing next to nothing about Tremolos, can you guys suggest to me some to try out, I'm after something that is a pretty harsh/hard Tremolo sound (square wave, I think) with a lard speed sweep.

Also, my phaser is acting up, the output jack is creating alot of noise & breaking the curcuit when I turn it on/off, so I may be replacing that if I can't repaire it, in a phaser I want something with a large, slow sweep.

For price, I'm thinking upto about £90 UK (sort of Phase 90 money)

If anyone can suggest some to try out when I'm next in guitar shops, it'd be much appreciated.

Ooooh, I just noticed that the Eventide ModFactor can do both Phaser & Tremolo effects, has anyone had any experiance with this? How's the sound quality?

I think a couple of people do have it, and if I know anything about Eventide, the effects will be nice. Very expensive though.

I can recommend the Boss PH-3 as a nice phaser. You can get a good range of speeds and it has a good range of sounds, from sweet and subtle to deep and swooshy. You should definitely try one out if you can.

I picked up an MXR Phase 90 the other week and i like it a lot better than the small stone... i haven't tried the nano though.

How is the Boss TR-2 as a tremolo?

The TR-2 is a nice tremolo at that price point. The problem is that it has a well established volume drop. Still, I like it more than the EHX Pulsar which is its main competition in that range.

Up on the next level (pricewise) are quite a few trems I liked. And for a budget, the Danelectro Tuna Melt is surprisingly good though it has the same construction/bypass issues as the other Dano pedals.

It's the normal, middle-of-the-road Dano box; not as well made as the Cool Cat, not as cheap as the FABtones.

The Keeley Mod will give you a TR-2 without the volume drop, and with other improvements that make it a very good trem, but again at that price point there are a number of others to consider.

If it's modable... i have experience in that area :D

I have a TR-2 available to me for next to nothing, so if it's something i can do myself... that seems like a good option.

The mod is called the "c11 mod" or something like that, iirc; It can be done on the older TR-2's and involves removing one cap or resistor. I haven't done it, but was looking into it when I had a TR-2; nice tremolo btw.
